I really enjoyed the first 40-something minutes when it was being meta and weird, then proceeded to lose interest as it became apparent it was yet another direct sequel. I guess I shouldn't have been too surprised, but given how polarizing the audience responses had been, I was really hoping it'd be doing something different. Also wasn't a fan of the villains at all, and I really missed Laurence Fishburne and Hugo Weaving.
I was a bit surprised at the 'WB is making this film with or without us' line. I don't follow Matrix news much, but before the film came out I kept hearing that Lana Wachowski wanted to make this, that she wanted to revisit those characters after losses in her life. Now I keep hearing that the line was right and she had to make this or it would be made without her.
What is up with the cat? It's gonna bug me until I find out why the Analyst paused in the middle of a firefight to try to catch his cat. Is that where he gets the ability to warp time? Is Deja-Vu a program that controls simultaneity in the Matrix?
I got the impression that the cat was the reset button somehow, so he could reboot the program and start again. Why had the button be on the back and not in his pocket I don't know, but that was my impression. It could have been a time warp instead, I didn't consider that.
