For discussion of works by or about Trans People

This 1995 documentary following the lives of three trans men in Japan is up on youtube in 4 parts. They work as hosts in the New Marilyn Club. The documentary won several awards including Outstanding Documentary at the San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.

I haven't watched it in a few years, but I found it fascinating. The documentary is a very frank and intimate portrayal of their lives. Topics like sex and surgery come up very suddenly in the doc, so be prepared for that.

Recently, Netflix released a documentary where trans actors talk about representation called Disclosure. It's a great documentary, though it does assume a broad knowledge about trans rep over the past few decades. More labels at the bottom of the screen labeling clips would have helped a lot.
