Bloodborne PSX
Feb. 9th, 2023 08:29 pmBloodborne PSX is a demake of the original Victorian Soulsike from FromSoftware. Don't worry, I'll explain that sentence.
FromSoftware's Dark Souls series is iconic. Bloodborne uses the same mechanics as the core Dark Souls games, but in a gothic Victorian setting. Sometimes, game developers do remakes of classic games to update the graphics and system's to today's standards. For example, yesterday Nintendo released a remake of Metroid Prime with updated graphics A demake is when someone does the opposite, they take a modern classic and make it look and play like an old game.
So, Bloodborne PSX is a fan-made re-imagining of an iconic game in modern gaming, as if it was a game for the Playstation 1. Realistic graphics were replaced with pixel art. Controls were simplified because PS1 controllers didn't have joysticks or as many buttons, and so on.
This playable game is a fan project by trans indie dev Lilith Walther. She is currently working on a racing game set in her demake. If you would like a deeper look into all of this there is a Noclip documentary on the game.
