[personal profile] olivermoss posting in [community profile] transmediaclub
There are a lot of trans characters who exist, but I don't know enough about them to make a proper overview post. I cannot watch all the cannons! So, I want to see how many weeks in a row I can find a character to do a mini post on. These characters exist, they are out there, they may be in canons you didn't expect.

This first post I am going to highlight Theo Putnam from Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I loved how his character was handled in the episodes I saw, but could not make it all the way through the show.

Archieverse Wiki page for him.

I like this idea for a posting topic/theme!

I haven't seen any of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and most of what I heard about it seemed to be... weird..., but I'm glad that they treated him well from what you saw!

That's very much what I heard! Super promising start, and then a hard turnaround into just plain mess. (One of those instances I was sort of glad to be behind in starting it, and was able to cross it off my list.)

That does definitely sound like some sort of weird production issue or "creative decisions" behind the scenes. I can generally handle some filler, or some weak episodes, or just varying quality with different writers... But when a show just absolutely shreds the themes and arcs and plotlines its been building up? That bothers me to the point I rarely keep interest in it.

It especially sucks that they wasted a good cast and some good concepts on something that they completely screwed up that way.

I've watched the entirety of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (it is A TRAINWRECK but a very entertaining one) and Theo has the best/most coherent character arc in the show. The actor used their own experience as non-binary to change things (source).
