Info from the Q&A with the devs of Dragon Age: The Veilguard

This is a game I will be keeping an eye on because the Dragon Age series has had landmark representation for both sexuality and gender in video games. Krem has been discussed to death online simply for being a trans character in a major studio AAA game with an actual storyline.

This is a recording of the Q&A they did on their discord. I've got the time stamp to where they talk about character creation. Players will be able to set gender and pronouns, and non-binary will be an option.

It's still early days so we don't know if any of the characters or LIs will be trans or if being non-binary will have much of an effect on the romances. One thing I will be keeping an eye out for in the pre-release info about the game is any mention of Maevaris Tilani, a trans woman. She appeared in one of the comics fleshing out the lore on the region where this game was originally supposed to take place. At one point it sounded like she'd be a character we'd meet, but that was a long time ago and the game has undergone a lot of iterations. Still, something to look out for.

I'm looking forward to this game, particularly the character creation's body shape/proportion sliders. It would be a dream come true if one of Rook's voice actors could be trans but that's probably too much to hope for. Can't wait to learn more about our main character options, the companions, or the potential advisors. The hype may have gone to my head already but I would be genuinely surprised if there weren't at least one major trans character in the game.

I am hoping for Maevaris! But, we'll see what will happen. I'll also be surprised if we don't get a trans character in the game.

Erika Ishii is confirmed as one of Rook's voice actors. They are genderfluid.
Jin Maley voices Taash, a Qunari companion. They are non-binary.

To add to this post:
- Top surgery scars in the character creator confirmed.
- Maevaris Tilani confirmed.
- There's also speculation that Taash (companion) might be trans/non-binary considering how the devs keep talking about her (she/they pronouns). Taash's voice actor and writer are also both non-binary. Keeping my fingers crossed.
